Track mitts
The track mitts or fingerless gloves are mostly worn in warm weather. Palms of such gloves are padded with gel, leather or some other material. Gloves with leather palms are generally matched with cork handlebar tape and drop-bar touring bicycles.
Full-finger gloves
There are different types of full-finger gloves. Some of them are water resistant and windproof which are worn during autumn and spring time. Though these gloves are water resistant but sometimes even they can become waterlogged if it rains too heavily.
Winter gloves
Winter gloves means gloves which keep the palms warm. Since they are often made of inner and outer layers, they are thicker that others. When it gets dirty, the inner layer can be washed too. To fight against the chilly weather, these gloves have a layer of insulation. Longer cuffs of these gloves can be tucked into jackets so that the wrists do not get chilled. Good deal to buy for chilly winters!
Mittens
Mittens can also be worn if it is extremely cold but it may cause problem in holding the brakes. To get away with this problem, bikers can use lobster-claw gloves
which are a mixture of mittens and gloves. While gloves make it easy to handle the brakes, mittens keep them warm.
Why do you need cycling gloves?
One of the most important reasons to wear gloves while cycling is that it enhances the grip and control of a cyclist. If the palms are sweaty, a biker would not have good grip over the handlebars and thus may lose control. And gloves soak up the sweat and thus give a better grip.
Gloves are also used for comfort and protection. Due to constant pressure on handle, the palms may get injured or get blisters. In that case gloves protect the palms and padded gloves minimize the shock that comes from road or terrain.
