There are various kinds of water sports and sailing is one of them. Technically speaking, sailing is an art in which you have to control a boat with large foils called sails. These sails are usually made up of fabrics. To change the direction and speed of a boat, a sailor has to manage the force of wind on the sails by changing the rigging, rudder and sometimes the centre board or the keel. It requires mastery over the skill of sailing and a sailor must also be experienced enough in varying wind and sea conditions.
Nowadays this craft has become quite rare but in many countries people still enjoy sailing as a recreational sport activity. In case an emergency occurs then one absolutely needs to have certain gear on the boat in order to be safe while sailing.
Among the most important things that you should have while sailing are the life-jackets and a first-aid kit. Other additional safety equipment like life-boats, ropes should also be there on the boat. If you are sailing in the open seas or on the coastline, then you must also carry radio and navigation tools.

You can find a large variety of sailing gear and equipments at different flea markets within a sailing community. Even some sailing clubs also hold a swap meet once or twice in every year where you can find a gear (although a used one) for very cheap price.
Another way to find the sailing gear is through online auctions that sell used gear. Only problem through online purchasing is that you can not see and check the gear before buying it. Then sailing magazines and newspapers are also good options as they offer used gear for sale where you can actually go and see the condition of the sailing gear before you purchase it.
